Chiropractic

Hayden Mackenzie

I became a chiropractor because I was fascinated by the idea that you could use your hands and knowledge to help people to get out of pain and improve their health and wellbeing. I saw a chiropractor for a basketball injury as a teenager and was tremendously impressed by the depth of knowledge, care and professionalism shown to me, and have been striving to continue that legacy in my own career.

Since graduating over a decade ago I’ve completed hundreds of hours of post-graduate study in neurological and orthopaedic rehabilitation, learning as much as I can about the most cutting edge approaches to managing pain and injury. While broadly my focus is on spinal and headache disorders, I spent years working in occupational injury management and have seen probably every variation of rotator cuff injury, tennis elbow and tendinitis which exists.

People often ask what techniques/tools I use, and my tongue-in-cheek response is usually “Whatever they need”. I’m experienced in a range of joint manipulation and soft tissue techniques, and have certifications in basic and advanced dry needling. I try to give people high-value strategies on helping themselves get better as well, whether this means prescribing specific exercises/stretches or working around the demands of their job or sport so they can avoid aggravating their injury but still focus on what they CAN do rather than just what they can’t. I’m an active competitor in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and definitely understand the need to work around injuries when they occur. My training in neurological rehab has also led to my having an interest in chronic pain conditions, migraines and dizziness disorders.

I’m a huge believer in the value of communication and giving people clarity about the nature of their injury, the options they have for managing it and working towards their particular goals and objectives regarding treatment. For some people this is the complete elimination of pain, and for others it’s just the ability to self-manage flare ups so they can still play with their kids without having to worry.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to do a job I love and to help people get back to living their lives as quickly as possible. I’m also very grateful to be part of the Stable community and be around like-minded practitioners and in such a beautiful space!
