ASSESSMENT AND INTERVENTION SERVICE
Gabriela and Marianna offer psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents to help parents and schools better understand a student’s learning needs and strengths. They are accepting referrals for cognitive assessments (commonly known as “IQ” tests including giftedness and intellectual disability), specific learning disorders (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia) and executive functioning assessments (e.g., ADHD).
Some of the questions a psychoeducational assessment can help answer include:
1. Does my child have dyslexia?
2. Why does my child find it hard to focus?
3. What is getting in the way of my child’s learning?
4. How can I best support my child to learn?
To help answer these questions, assessment results are considered together with an individual’s psychological, social, and emotional functioning through interviews with the student, teacher, parents, and allied health professionals as appropriate.
COUNSELLING SERVICES
Denise has experience supporting individuals across the lifespan with anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, trauma, self-esteem, and body image concerns. Moreover, Denise supports people to better understand themselves for personal growth.
Denise emphasises establishing a strong connection, before exploring thoughts, feelings, and narratives to help clients develop insight into their difficulties. And most importantly, Denise is passionate about turning insights into action to improve the quality of people’s lives.
Outside of private practice, Denise works in a secondary school setting to help adolescents manage a range of social emotional problems that are interfering with their ability to engage with learning and perform at their best.
Clients describe Denise as calm, engaging, thought provoking, genuine and accepting. Clients most appreciate her sense of humour, warmth, and openness to new ideas. Appointments available Tuesdays and Saturdays. Medicare rebate of $88.25 for clients with Mental Health Care Plan.
